So, what do I need to use a Foxhound Band Theme?

You'll need Wordpress 3.2 (free) or higher installed on your server, which can be as simple as a 1-click install, depending on your hosting. If you don't know what I'm talking about don't worry, there is lots of step-by-step documentation on Wordpress.org. You'll need PHP5 too, but again, most hosting'll take care of all that for you by default. Here are a couple hosts that we use: MediaTemple and LunarPages

What is Wordpress?

Wordpress is a publishing platform with state-of-the-art usability and features—and it's free! So, as Wordpress fans say, it's "both free and priceless at the same time." Why do we use Wordpress? Because it's the best publishing platform out there. You can download it here, or read what they have to say about themselves.

Ok, so how do I install the theme on Wordpress?

This is also pretty simple. Once you download the theme, extract the files to your desktop. You'll see a read me and the theme folder. You can either drop the theme folder on www.yoursite.com/wp-content/themes through FTP or if you're lucky and your host allows you to upload more than 2MB at one time, you can .zip the theme folder and upload through your Wordpress admin. You'll have it up in no time. If you really aren't tech-savvy though and want us to handle all this mumbo-jumbo we offer an installation price option with all of our themes.

What operating systems and internet browsers do the themes work on?

The theme is independent of the operating system, so it will work on all of them. Whether you use Windows or a Mac or some custom computer you built in your basement it will work just fine. As for internet browsers, we test our themes on the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

Can I edit it? Modify the code? Switch things up?

Yeah of course. Go crazy. Edit whatever you like. If you break it though... well—you've already bought it. And that's what the forums are for. We've made the themes with customization in mind though, so you shouldn't have any problems. We'll even give you the .psd files.

Do I need to credit Foxhound? I notice there is a Foxhound logo in there.

No, you can take that out. You've paid for the website, after all. It's all yours. In fact, we've made removing it as simple as un-checking a box in the Foxhound Band Themes panel. We do appreciate the help though, so if you don't mind the logo we'd love for you to leave it in there.

How customizable are your themes?

We include a few skins with each theme, and once you get your band photos and logo in there it should look pretty unique. If you want to customize it further, go for it. We include the .psd files so you can edit the imagery and you're more than welcome to fiddle with the code. The theme's all yours. If you want something unique just buy the logo and branding package that corresponds with the theme (the theme and installation are included in that price) and we'll customize your website to fit your band, or even brand your band from scratch, if you don't already have a logo and identity.

How do I upload my own imagery and logo?

The themes are all designed with this in mind. Uploading your imagery can all be done in the Foxhound Band Themes panel with the click of a few buttons. Instructions on how to properly save and compress your images are included with the themes, so no computer knowledge necessary. Don't have a logo or imagery? No problem, just grab the Logo and Branding package and we'll take care of that for you.

I don't have a logo/band photo but I dig one of your themes. Will it work without one?

Of course. You can use one of our stock images (included with the themes) or you can just leave it blank. The themes will work fine without them. And again, if you want imagery and don't have it, just grab the Logo and Branding package.

Can I change all of the colors (background, text, buttons, etc)?

You can switch up the skins, which'll give you a couple color or background choices. We've included the .psd files so you can change up whatever you want using those, too. If you want more freedom/help than that you can hire us to do it for you.

Are your themes Search Engine Optimized (SEO)?

Oh yeah. Wordpress is one of the friendliest systems out there for Search Engine Optimization. All the titles and headings use validated XHTML code to further optimize the website. Search engines will find it just fine. We've also included instructions on how to properly put together your website, and we have a blog post written up about the basics of Google SEO and how to take advantage of it.

Can I blog?

Definitely. All of our themes include blogs, either on the home page or on a separate blog page. Wordpress is arguably the best blogging system out there, so you're in good hands. We've also taken things one step further by allowing you and your readers to share your blog posts using all the current social media, and we've made them a little bit more functional by adding things like threaded comments and sign-up features.

What about plugins and widgets?

We've included some, we've recommended others, and Wordpress is just packed full of free plugins and widgets that you can pop in there to your heart's content. If you need help or want an extra feature, we've got a forum designed specifically for that.

What about videos and galleries?

Wordpress has an amazing gallery built in that just needs some dressing up with either Shadowbox JS or FancyZoom (both free on Wordpress.org). You can post Youtube or Vimeo videos on your pages or in your blog posts too, no problem.

How do I pay for it?

You can pay through pay-pal or using a credit card, whichever is easiest for you—and we use E-junkie for our e-commerce, so you can buy our themes with total security.

So I can use Paypal or a credit card?

Oh yes.

Is this a one-time cost or do I need to pay every month?

It's a one-time cost. You can keep it forever. We won't re-bill you.

Do I get the .psd files?

Yeah. We include those in all the download files. No extra cost. Have fun!

When do I get the theme?

Instantly! You'll automatically be sent a download link as soon as you finish paying. And from there all you need to do is install it.

I'm thinking of buying an installation or logo & branding package... when would you give me the finished website?

We'd get it to you soon! If you want it as soon as possible just make sure you have your details in order when you buy it. Grab the domain you want and make sure you have hosting. If you don't know what I'm talking about let us know and we'll get it for you. If you know what you want and have your stuff together we can throw your website up in no-time. I know these answers aren't concrete, but we've noticed that more than anything it depends on how ready the client is.

If I buy just the theme can I buy installation or logo and branding later?

Yes. Contact us and we'll verify your order number and send you an invoice for the remaining amount.
